I want to test the upcoming Nextcloud version, how does that work?
Through our major platform upgrade, we can develop and test major upgrades (Nextcloud Hub 31, 32...) faster. Our customers can, if desired, take a look at the new version - at no additional cost.
As soon as a new major upgrade is released in Release Candidate status, we begin integrating it into our platform. A Release Candidate is a nearly finished version. The Nextcloud project typically starts the RC cycle one month before the final release.
Customers with a service contract receive advance notice from us about planned upgrades. We often test the new version or app updates together with them.
Portknox customers can have an upcoming version (Testdrive Cloud) installed in parallel with their existing cloud:
- Log in to your cloud as Admin and navigate to the Portknox App.
- Send us an alternative email address via the support form (this must not be the email registered with Portknox).
- We will enter this email into our system and notify you of the activation.
- You can now use the Signup Form with the registered email to have a Testdrive Cloud (upcoming version) installed.
Further Information
- Testdrive Clouds are intended for interested customers who want to test new versions in advance.
- No data from your existing cloud will be transferred.
- Once installed, the Testdrive Cloud will no longer be updated by us.
- Nextcloud apps are often not yet updated and may not be compatible.
- This Testdrive Cloud cannot be converted into a paid cloud.
- Testdrive Clouds are deleted shortly after the final release.
